About AUDACITY REVIEW
AUDACITY REVIEW is an independent left-wing journal of thought. We publish readings of contemporary and classic left-wing theory and political commentary, alongside original research.
What We Do
- Readings: We select incisive articles on politics, economy, society, and philosophy from publications such as New Left Review, Monthly Review, and the London Review of Books, presenting them to a Chinese-reading audience through deep readings rather than literal translation.
- Critique: Independent analysis of current political and economic issues. Plainly stated, not pretending to be "neutral."
- Original: Research papers and essays by our editor and invited authors, spanning politics, economy, society, and philosophy.
Stance
We write from a left-wing standpoint — which means we take class analysis seriously, adopt a critical attitude toward capitalism, and focus on labor, equality, and emancipation. But we are not affiliated with any party or faction, and we reject dogma. We believe the precondition for thinking is honesty; the precondition for reading is fidelity; the precondition for critique is acknowledging one's own perspective.
On "Audacity"
Why AUDACITY?
Because in an era of growing conservatism, cynicism, and pragmatism, the very act of thinking critically requires a measure of audacity. We acknowledge our own limitations, hesitations, and uncertainties — and we choose to write about those honestly as well. That, perhaps, is what we mean by "audacity."
Submissions
We accept submissions and welcome AI-assisted editing. Our requirements are three: original core content, grounded in evidence, and critical in spirit.
